The Burnout Recovery Plan

Burnout is a state of mind and body that significantly impairs your capacity to think clearly and make decisions.

Burnout interferes with your ability to take step back and take stock of your health and wellbeing.

Burnout can blind you to even figuring out where to even start your recovery process.

The truth is that burnout is a very difficult affliction to navigate, and you shouldn’t have to navigate burnout all on your own.

As a burnout coach and creator of LearnAboutBurnout.com, I created this 3-week, guided burnout recovery plan in order to support people who need a little help getting started in their recovery journey. While this guide should not be a replacement for burnout counseling or medical advice, it can kick-start and serve as a supplement in your recovery journey.

The guide uses the following educational techniques to teach you about burnout and actively guide you through your burnout recovery:

  • A burnout measurement assessment, to evaluate your current burnout level

  • Educational essays, infographics, and YouTube videos, to provide self-paced learning

  • Quizzes, to check your knowledge retention

  • Self-reflection prompts, to customize your recovery for your situation

  • Podcasts, books, and other resources to continue learning

Part 1 begins with a self-assessment to evaluate your current level of burnout, followed by teaching you why bodily rest and recovery is important in combatting burnout, along with methods you can use to enable your body to rest and recover.

Part 2 will progress by teaching you what impact your mental narratives play in relation to denial of self-needs, sense of reward, and workload regulation. You will also learn methods that can be useful in mitigating your denial of self-needs, and enable you to properly navigate both workload regulation and your sense of reward.

Part 3 will build on the momentum and learning that you have established in the first 2 parts, by guiding you through reflection and accountability planning exercises that will be instrumental in serving your continued burnout recovery journey.

Get started with part 1 of the guided plan. Wishing you all the best and a swift recovery!
